An Inviting Escape

Upcott Farm is a beautiful 500 year old farmhouse, extended in 1833 and more recently restored from 2005 to 2010. The farmhouse and surrounding buildings, including a 250 year old apple press, sit in a peaceful valley surrounded by fields and orchards.

The Lambshed and the Calfshed, originally built to house the farm’s livestock, have been sensitively converted to luxury holiday accommodation. Using a combination of traditional and modern materials, they are finished and decorated to a very high standard of comfort and style.

Upcott Farm is ideally placed to enable guests to explore all that North Devon has to offer whatever the time of year. With its gorgeous beaches, pretty villages, great pubs and activities such as surfing, riding and walking, it makes the perfect place to spend your holiday.

In every respect, it is a place to switch off and enjoy the good life for a few days. Every requirement is catered for (dishwasher, washing machine, underfloor heating, the best self-catering kitchen I’ve ever come across) along with many thoughtful touches such as some basic supplies, fresh flowers and plenty of kids toys. We loved gathering around the large farmhouse-style dining table and taking our time over breakfasts, then curling up on the large corner sofa in front of the fire at the end of each day. It was seriously hard to leave.

This is Your Kingdom

The Calfshed, a converted barn, is a long, open-plan slice of this good life, where the only alarm clocks are skylights. Dashes of dove-grey, souvenirs of the sea and a wood-burning fire bring a wonderful warmth to the space in which The White Company photographed its catalogue.

Conde Nast Traveller - Best of British House

It took seven years for Ben and Sarah Lambert to turn the 500-year-old Upcott Farm into a comfy family home with sleek, rentable outhouses. Most notable is the Devonshire barn decked out with soft, whitewashed décor. The Georgian property’s walled kitchen garden is rich with fresh, edible treats — and chickens (and the occasional wild rabbit) typically roam the well-tended grounds. The wilder climes of the Exmoor National Park are also close at hand.
